A comforting scene. Is comfort the reward for discomfort?

Hi friends.

It’s 5:30 p.m., I just finished a dinner of leftover soup, the curtains are drawn, the living room is dim, my energy is low, my back hurts, and my dog is staring at me with her glassy brown eyes because I haven’t fed her yet. Work is harder, the days are shorter, the air is colder. There was a time I would’ve poured myself a splash or two of whiskey into a glass without another thought. It’s going to be a stressful week. Why not soothe myself?
