🎧 Steve And I Talk Partnership And Creativity
I invited my life partner, who is also a writer, to share with me about the ways in which we help and hinder each other's respective creative process
In celebration of 💕love💕 this week, I thought it’d be fun to finally invite my life partner/spouse/significant other, Steve, to share. Along with Valentine’s Day, we just celebrated eight years together, so this time of year is especially mushy gushy.
Steve is a fiction writer (read his published flash stories here!) and a wildly creative human. He doodles, he sings little diddies, he fiddles around with guitar and keyboard, he makes the internet work when it breaks, he comes up with puns and jokes, and he has his own newsletter called
.When people find out we’re both writers, they’ll sometimes ask if we work on projects together or if we help edit each other’s work. In this extra special HHC edition (Steve keeps chanting “Honing Our Craft”), we dig into those questions. But mostly, the two of us talk about what it’s like to have a partner who’s creative—how we help and hinder one another, what we need from a creative partner, and whether or not we think we could work together on a project. It’s sweet, it’s spicy. I hope you enjoy our loving banter, and we’d love to hear your thoughts on it!

P.S. We’re both recovering from head colds, so excuse our stuffiness.
